Native port
Continuing vcl learning and understanding. Things are more clear since I found a better way to analyse it.
- read a lot of doc since two days. Carbon printing, and Carbon ATSUI. Apple doc is nice.
- discovered a great sample code, called CarbonSketch, containing a lot of infos abour events, windows and printing (everything we have to implement in fact )
- found a great website :
osxfaq.com Back from Dijon late in the evening.
Todo : find some photos to complete Tino's map :-)
Linux Graphics Meeting 2006
Saturday, discussing on IRC with Cedric, he told me about
Linux Graphic Meeting in Lyon from 17th to 19th March... Because I'm often interested in design ( as a Mac user of course ) I had planned to go, and I completely forgot the date :-/
No problem : discussing with Clement, Simon, Manuel and Yann, saturday evening, it was decided to go ... Sunday, and together. We found a place for a date and everything was ok.
Just the time to sleep a bit before to go.
Started at 7:00, it took us less than 3 hours of travel (by car) to reach Lyon.
Of course, coming the last day, we didn't see too much conferences (the third day was "open" ) but what we saw was great :
Rui Campos ( Blender ) demo was great, and I won't forgot before a long time how he found his models ;-)
Cedric was so kind to come, and discuss with Loïc Taulelle ( ALDIL) and Isabelle about OOoCon2006 things, preparing a lot of little things who have to be managed a long time before the event.
Some photos have been taken. As soon as I found them, I'll provide a link, just to give everyone a face, not only a name :-)
Return was smooth. No problem.
Nice day, really. Thank's to Dave Neary ( The Gimp ) and all the ALDIL Team for his welcome, and
see you soon Lyon !
Mac OS X Native port : playing with Carbon
Alexandre and Yann have implement some basics functions using Carbon. Not exactly the same used in svdem, but enough close, and maybe more easy to understand.
Everything is
there
Native port : A new toy :-)
Just discussing 5 minutes with Tino on IRC, and he suggested me to try svdem. Not the one in vcl, but the one in svtools. Toolkit has to be built before, but after 10 min, everything was ok to create a new aqua application.
Just have a look ...
To be continued.. I'm off today
Please help them :-)
Since some times, several students from
UTBM help Mac OS X port. Most of them are only in 2nd year (over 5) of the cursus.
Some are working for marketing/art project, other for code (vcl analyse).
About the second one,
there is currently no existing description/documentation about vcl code, and the objective is to (first)
describe (the essential part of) vcl code and (second)
write the structure and organisation of this important OpenOffice.org module.
Doing some progress understanding vcl organisation, it was decided to follow Mac OS X native port, and try to understand what is happening.
The objective is to
describe everything using simple words. Even for complicated things, it's most of the time possible to describe any situation with simple words.
I know how it's difficult to be productive with OpenOffice.org development, more true, how informations are difficult to find, but AFAIK,
OpenOffice.org is a free software, and a community project....firstEverything, means reports and presentations will be made in english (great, I'll do some progress :-) ), and other professors of our School will help.
This project can never be finished, but this is not the most important. The most important is discover and contribute to the community.
They are ( names + respective nicknames on IRC ) :
Yann Bard ( Ybarb ) , Simon Lopez (slopez) , Gaelle Despoulain, Manuel Vonthron ( mvonthron) , Alexandre Mohr (amhor ), Edward Nys, Yannis Achour, and Maxime Petazzoni ( sam' )
Maybe you already see some of them ?
